Overview
If you’ve been following AI Makerspace for a while, you’ve probably noticed that we’re not like other programs. We don’t let just anyone enroll in the AI Engineering Bootcamp. Why? Because this isn’t about filling seats — it’s about setting people up for success.
Some people thrive in a self-paced course. Others love building in a community. Many need the accountability that a structured bootcamp brings. And some need all of the above. Our application process is designed to help you land where you’ll actually thrive, whether that’s with us or elsewhere.
Our Selection Process
If you do choose to apply to The AI Engineering Bootcamp, here are some salient numbers:
- Acceptance rate: Only 18–22% of applicants are admitted — roughly 1 in 5.
- Certification: Once admitted, 1 in 4 students won’t complete the certification.
- Demo Day: Out of a max class size of 70, only 18 projects are chosen to present.
The Semi-Finals Selection Process
- 🎯 Goal: Select 18 finalists via peer voting.
- 🎲 Format: One qualifying semi-final round in multiple rooms; peers in each room vote.
- Conditions/Constraints
- ↔️ Equally-sized rooms
- 🙅 No peer supporters will lead rooms with any of their Journey Group members
- 🤩 Each student in the room must participate in presenting and voting
- 🗳️ Every student gets one vote. You may not vote for yourself. Peer-supporter facilitators will not vote.
- In the event of a tie, we will facilitate 90-second lightning pitch rounds for tied presenters. Upon completion, we will again vote to fill any remaining spots.
